Large Carry All

Here is one of Tupperware's most sought after products for organizing cupboards! The Large Carry All, with its 58 cup capacity, is only brought out from time to time, but is thoroughly loved by anyone whose used it. Perfect for bulk goods such as flour, sugar and rice. It will accommodate a 10kg bag. Some people like it for dog food, and I've know people to use it for large quantities of produce. It also makes good storage for small children's toys.

Tupperware Flavor Saver

Here is one of my favorite Tupperware containers. It is called a "Flavor Saver" and it is the perfect container for storing a cooked chicken, turkey or ham. Notice the handles of the rack that allows you to hoist the contents easily.

This piece from the past was so popular that anyone with a broken container or seal one would opt to keep it and use it broken than be without it!


Here, using the Flavor Saver, I have immersed a thawing chicken in cold water. I had to rescue it from its other use - storing a bag of corn chips. It is the perfect size for many uses.

Really, how do you beat this fantastic Tupperware Rectangular Cake Taker for hauling cupcakes and other delectables anywhere? I hope you enjoyed the excitement of the Winter Olympic Games held here in Vancouver, Canada! Canada won a record number of Gold metals for any host country in history and for that we are all proud as if we'd won them ourselves. Interesting how competition and striving for perfection brings out the best in a country at all levels. Even my 86 year old Dad said he wished he was younger so that he could participate in the Olympics... in his youth he was a speed skater.

Chef Stuart's Oatmeal Almond Blueberry Pancakes

Serves 3 - 3 Pancakes per serving
15 minutes

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder (to give some lift)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch Salt
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup lowfat buttermilk
1 tbsp vanilla extract

3/4 cup fresh blueberries (frozen is ok too)
2/3 cup sliced almonds

Mix dry ingredients together except blueberries and almonds. Combine wet ingredients in a Quick Shake. Shake. Add to dry ingredients and mix briefly. Pour batter into hot oiled frypan. Top with blueberries and almonds. Flip when ready. Serve with maple syrup and butter if desired. Repeat with batterl

FridgeSmart Venting Instructions

What if you bought your FridgeSmart Containers before the guide to their use was embedded into the side of the container, and you've misplaced the little guide that came with them?

Here are some solutions:

1. Purchase 1 new container that has the information on it so you have a guide in your fridge
2. Ask your consultant for the FridgeSmart Cling that sticks to your fridge
3. Make a note of the following guide

FridgeSmart
Fresh Just Got Smarter!

Refrigerate fruits and vegetables immediately in Tupperware FridgeSmart containers.

Dry Garlic, Mature Onions, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Winter Squash and unripe fruit are not recommended for refrigerator storage.

Fruits and vegetables are divided into 3 groups - High Breathers (leave both vents open), Medium Breathers (leave one vent open, one closed), and Low Breathers (keep both vents closed)

High (or Heavy!) Breathers include:

• Artichokes
• Broccoli
• Brussels Sprouts
• Endive
• Peas (including Snow Peas)
• Spinach
• Sweet Corn (dehusked)

Medium Breathers include:
Vegetables

• Beans (including Snap Beans and String Beans)
• Cabbage
• Cauliflower
• Fresh Herbs
• Fresh Shallots
• Green Onions
• Greens (Collard, Kale and Swiss Chard)
• Leeks
• Lettuce, all types

Fruits

• Ripe Apples
• Citrus (including Grapefruit, Orange, Mandarin, Lemon, Tangerine and Lime)
• Ripe Pears
• Peppers (including Bell, Sweet, Hot and others)

Low Breathers include:
Vegetables

• Asparagus
• Beet Root
• Button Mushrooms
• Carrots
• Celery
• Cucumbers
• Okra
• Radishes
• Rutabaga
• Summer Squash
• Turnips
• Zucchini

Fruits

• Ripe Berries
• All other ripe fruit not included in medium category
• All fresh cut fruit

Although Tupperware works with the University of Florida and they have a lot figured out, here are some tips that you might find helpful:

1. Try venting your mushrooms - I find they keep even longer
2. Store cucumber at room temperature - you will find they do not go slimey. After a couple of weeks they may lose their colour, but they will not rot even once they are cut. (I picked up this tip from a customer who has a produce store)
3. Vent your cheeses keeping 1 or both vents open
4. Experiment with 1, 2 or no vents open - find out for yourself what works in your fridge
